Mississippi Teacher Loan Repayment Program
Through the Mississippi Teacher Loan Repayment Program, qualifying teachers may be able to receive up to $3,000 per year for a total of 4 years for service in rural areas of the state. Eligibility?
In order to qualify for the Mississippi Teacher Loan Repayment Program, you will need to meet the following criteria:
- If you hold a Mississippi Alternative Route Teaching license and teach in a Mississippi public school district located in a critical teacher or subject shortage area, you may be eligible for loan assistance.
- You MUST not currently be in default or delinquent on any federal, state, or local educational loan.
You will be considered ineligible if:
- You also are NOT eligible if you have already received funds from the Critical Needs Teacher Forgivable Loan program or the William Winter Teacher Scholar Loan Program.
What is the award amount?
Through the Mississippi Teacher Loan Repayment Program, you may be eligible to collect up to $3,000 annually for up to 4 years on outstanding qualifying undergraduate educational loans per year of teaching in a critical geographical or subject area.
Please Note: Within this program, Perkins loans and graduate level loans do not qualify for loan forgiveness through the Mississippi Teacher Loan Repayment Program.
What loans qualify for this program?
The following loans are eligible through the Mississippi Teacher Loan Repayment Program:
• Stafford loans
• Grad PLUS loans
• Consolidation loans
• Private student loans
Please Note: Your loans must have been used your undergraduate education.
