Eligibility?
In order to be eligible for the Indian Health Services Loan Repayment Program, you will need to commit to a 2-year service obligation to practice in a specific health profession full time. This program must be completed at an Indian Health Program site. The site must provide quality health care services to American Indian and Alaska Native communities.
Eligible medical professions include physicians, nurses, dentists, and physical therapists. Below you find all applicable professions that will qualify for this program:
Advanced Practice Nurse
• Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM)
• Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)
• Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)
• Nurse Practitioner (NP)
• Family Practice
• Geriatric
• Pediatric
• Psychiatric
• Women’s Health
Behavioral Health
• Clinical Psychology: PhD and PsyD
• Counseling — Licensed Professional Counselor: Master’s degree
• Counseling Psychology — PhD
• Social Work — Licensed Social Worker: Master’s degree
Dentistry
• Dental Hygiene
• Dentist — DDS and DMD
Medicine
• Medicine: Allopathic and Osteopathic
• Podiatry: DPM
Nursing (Full-time clinical positions only)
• Nurse: ADN BSN
Optometry
• Optometry: OD
Pharmacy
• Pharmacy: PharmD
Physical Rehabilitation*
• Physical Therapy
• Occupational Therapy

What is the award amount?
If you qualify for the Indian Health Services Loan Repayment Program, you may qualify for up to $20,000 for a maximum of 2 years.
