Through the North Dakota Veterinarian Student Loan Repayment Program, qualifying applicants may be able to qualify for student loan forgiveness so long as they provide veterinarian services in the state of North Dakota. Eligibility?
In order to be eligible for the North Dakota Veterinarian Student Loan Repayment Program, you must meet the following criteria:
- Have a degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), or the equivalent, from a college of
veterinary medicine accredited by the AVMA Council on Education. - Have qualifying educational loan debt.
- Secure an offer of employment or establish and/or maintain a practice in a NIFA designated
veterinary shortage situation within the time period specified in the VMLRP service agreement
offer. - Provide certifications and verifications as defined in 7 CFR 3431, Veterinary Medicine Loan
Repayment Program.

A list of designated veterinary shortage situations will be posted on the VMLRP web site at www.nifa.usda.gov/vmlrp-map prior to or concurrent with the opening of the VMLRP application period. Failure to meet an eligibility criterion by the time of application deadline may result in the application being excluded from consideration or, even though an application may be reviewed, will preclude NIFA from making an award.
How much can I expect to be awarded?

How do I apply for this repayment program?
To apply for the North Dakota Veterinarian Student Loan Repayment Program, you must do the following:
The application forms must be downloaded from the VMLRP web site. Go to http://www.nifa.usda.gov/vmlrp, click on the “Applicants” link, and then click on the “Application Forms for FY 2015” link.
