Eligibility?

In order to be eligible for the National Guard Student Loan Repayment Program, you must meet the following criteria in order to be eligible for this program:

Do you qualify for the NHSC LRP?

Yes, you qualify if you are:

  • A United States citizen (U.S. born or naturalized) or United States national;
  • A provider (or be eligible to participate as a provider) in the Medicare, Medicaid and the State Children’s Health Insurance Program, as appropriate;
  • Fully trained and licensed to practice in the NHSC-eligible primary care medical, dental or mental/behavioral health discipline and state in which you are applying to serve; and
  • A health professional in an eligible discipline with qualified student loan debt for an education that led to your degree.

Trained and licensed providers who provide patient care under the following disciplines and specialties are eligible to apply to the NHSC Loan Repayment Program.

Through the National Health Service Corps Loan Repayment Program, you may be eligible to receive up to $50,000 to use towards paying off your federal student loans in return for a two-year commitment. After your initial two-year commitment is completed, you may apply to extend your service and apply for additional loan assistance through the program.

• Private student loans
