Through the Kansas State Student Loan Forgiveness Program qualifying applicants will be given the opportunity to have their loans forgiven so long as they meet the requirements of being a healthcare professional working in the state of Kansas. Eligibility?

In order to be eligible for this program, applicants must be Kansas-bases with a medical profession. These applicants must commit to providing health care services at a site located in a federally designated health professional shortage are for a minimum of two years. If you meet these criteria you may be eligible for this program.

Additionally, you must be employed at a public or nonprofit facility and the practice site must maintain an open door tall all residents regardless of their ability to pay.

What is the award amount?

Through the Kansas State Student Loan Forgiveness Program, you may be able to qualify for up to $25,000 toward your student debt annually for up to 2 years. This pertains specifically to physicians or dentists in the field. For all other health professions please read below.

All other health professionals may receive up to $20,000 annually for up to two years. Additional awards are available in varying amounts for up to 3 more years if you choose to extend the program.

The following loans will be eligible through this program:
• Stafford loans
• Grad PLUS loans
• Consolidation loans
• Perkins loans
• Private student loans
