If you are a lawyer employed in the state of Florida you may want to take a look into the Florida Loan Repayment Assistance Program. Through this program, qualified applicants may be able to acquire up to $5,000 per year in the form of a loan. Continue reading to see what you need to do in order to qualify.

Eligibility?

Through the Florida Loan Repayment Assistance Program, they offer a Loan Repayment Assistance Program, commonly referred to as the LRAP. This program is for lawyers employed at Florida Legal Aid and Legal Services Organizations. The main objective of this program is to help retain and recruit future lawyers through the Florida Bar Foundation. Through this program, you may qualify for up to $5,000 in the form of a loan per year that you can use to help pay off your student loans.

Staff attorneys employed by government agencies, nonprofits, and other types of public service organizations:

  • Public Defenders
  • State Attorneys
  • Department of Children and Families
  • Guardian ad Litem
  • Office of Regional Conflict Counsel
  • Catholic Charities
  • Other Entities

How much should be expected through his award?

The Foundation’s LRAP provides benefits of $5,000 per year in the form of a loan. The Foundation forgives the loan annually for participants who remain employed full-time or part-time (at least 50% FTE) for 12 months at a Foundation general support-funded organization.
